I have been trying to study search engine optimization (SEO), still learning thou and a lot. I found out that linking is not just all about linking to one’s page. It has to be relevant.
Another thing that I have learned is the proper usage of anchor text. But what really is anchor text?
Anchor text is the clickable text in a hyperlink. The words contained in the anchor text will determine the ranking of that particular page in the search engine.
The anchor text should give relevant information of the content of the link destination to your readers.
example: <a href=”http://julievilbar.com“>How to optimize anchor text?</a>
http://julievilbar.com is your link referral location
How to optimize anchor text? is your visible anchor text of your link
You have to make you sure that the link contains the anchor text that is rich in keywords that you want to optimize. In the above sample, the keyword is anchor text.
It enhances the relevance of target page to the keywords used. That is the proper method of linking.
Your link should not just say, click here. It should state the anchor text (with relevant keywords) that is connected to the page, whether from external or internal pages.
