The Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2 will end operations earlier than scheduled on Dec. 24 and 31, the LRT Administration said.
LRTA Administrator Rafael Rodriguez cited ridership and traffic data from 2006 to 2010 that showed a decline in the number of commuters on those dates.
Posted Friday night on the LRTA website was an advisory that on Dec. 24, the last commercial train will depart Baclaran and Roosevelt in LRT Line 1 at 8 p.m.
For LRT Line 2, the last commercial train will leave Santolan at 8 p.m., and Recto at 8:30 p.m.
On Dec. 31, the last commercial train will leave Baclaran and Roosevelt in Line 1 at 7 p.m.
For LRT Line 2, the last commercial train will leave Santolan at 7 p.m., and Recto at 7:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the LRTA reiterated it will tighten security measures to ensure a safe and convenient trip during the Christmas break.
Rodriguez said he has instructed all LRTA personnel to strictly implement the “no inspection, no entry” policy and remind riders that wrapped gift items are subject to inspection.
